Who are we?

Swansea Women’s Centre is a charity based in Swansea and open to all women in the Swansea and wider South Wales area. The Centre offers a range of activities and facilities for women including courses, workshops, groups, drop-ins, and information and resources.

Proposed Nude Dancing Club Campaign

URGENT!!

NUDE DANCING / LAPDANCING CLUB PLANNING GRANTED!

An application for a Nude Dancing Club situated in the old Jaegar Bar in York St has been applied for and granted by the City and County of Swansea. However, under new regulations a ‘Sex Entertainment Venue’ license also has to be granted, and this has not happened yet. There is strict criteria applied to this, and for the first time the Gender Equality Duty can be used as an objection.

The Women’s Centre, in partnership with the Swansea Feminist Network is holding its annual International Women’s Day event on Thursday March 8th (10am-3pm) at Swansea University. It will be a day of workshops focussing on issues that women face around the world (trafficking, domestic abuse, honour based violence etc). There will be stalls with information and women’s artwork on show. The event is FREE and is open to all genders.
